Jo Jo Cage(s) by JRigh Jo Jo Cage(s) by JRigh
We had a brown cage (see bottom of pic above) for Jo Jo that worked okay, but still seemed too small.  I didn't want to pay over $300 for a nice big one (even used, those big ones are expensive!).  A friend gave me a small white cage (see top of pic above), and then I had a great idea ... combine them!  So I took the bottom of the white one, stuck it over the top of the brown (where the top came off, of course), bound them together with some heavy gauge wire and some twist ties, and there you have it!  A nice, tall palace for Miss Jo Jo to rule within.  :-)

I placed what I call "poo catchers" in a couple of key places ... these are basically square plastic lids (nothing with BPA!) that I affix under the high places where she would poo.  This way, all the toys and stuff below do not get as dirty.  You can barely see one of them if you look at the bottom of her wooden nest box and slightly to the left, you can see a poo catcher.  This setup has worked really well for me and the Fluffy Velociraptor.

We used really heavy gauge wire on two of the sides ... I sanded the sharp tips down and made sure to tuck them in so she won't hurt herself.  The wire didn't work as well in the front because of a 1/2 inch gap and I didn't want a 'circle' of wire so to speak where she could get her foot or beak caught, so I used garbage bag ties like this: img.trade.cn/uploaded/2011-08/… I threaded the end into the head and pulled it as tight as I could, then I cut the long part off.  You can barely see them (in the picture) on the front of the cage.  I added a few others (of the garbage ties) around all four sides to hold it in place while I did the wire, but as I said I only put wire on 2 sides.  I was just too worried that she would want to mess with it and then possibly hurt herself.

I only use cable tie, similar with garbage tie, they are pretty strong to tie something :)
